Samantha Hannah: Healthy Self-Image Coach

Samantha Hannah is quite a fitting person to have for the first post of September. It’s “sort your life out” around these parts at the moment and so a motivational speaker and healthy-self image coach is spot on! The idea of a healthy self image coach really appeals to me and I’m sure to many others – instead of it being about how good you look, it should always be about how good you feel and it’s really choice that someone is on the same page with that little mantra I have.

1) First of all, name and what you say you do at a party

2) You’re a huge supporter of women in business. What would you say is the biggest challenge facing women in business today?
Hmmm, that’s a really good question. Right now, I’d say learning that we don’t have to be all things to everyone, especially if we become parents. I’d also add, that women need to recognise their desires – what they want from life – and believe that they can have them. Women who are happy with their lives are very powerful, kind and loving forces who can achieve anything.

3) What do you wish someone had told you when you started your career?
To slow down… wait, I’ve been told that all my life. Haha. Seriously, I wish I knew more about creating an online business 10 years ago, because I would have gone straight for that option – it would have saved me a lot in web designer fees over the years.

4) Visitors are coming to town, what’s your itinerary for the day?
My plan is for one of the those gloriously still and warm Wellington days… Get up early and take a walk along the waterfront or drive to the foot of Mt Kau Kau and walk up to the top. Then head to Floridita’s cafe for brunch and a divine coffee (or green tea). Then it’s onto a bit a shopping. My ‘must not miss’ places are Magnolia for something interesting and different, Mischief Shoes, Old Bank Arcade, Cuba St area for vintage and Victoria St. I’d recommend a cocktail at the Library , eating at Dragonfly and taking in a show if one was on. If you’re here on a weekend, then head to Lululemon Lambton Quay on Sunday morning and get your yoga on… It’s free on Sunday mornings!

5) What do you think of when you think of Wellington?
Coolest little Capital in the world.

6) Who’s someone you admire and why?
I was terrible at the game, name your favourite ? I have so many things I’m interested in at any one time. So I’d have to list ‘people’ who I admire right now; for their brain and spiritual insight Dr Joe Dispenza, Dr Wayne Dyer and Dr Libby Weaver; for ongoing business guidance Maria Forleo and Kate Northrup; For finding a way to overcome adversity and creating manageable healthy lives, Kris Karr and Gabby Bernstein. Because all of these people have followed their dreams and shared their stories they are helping to make the world a better place, which are some of the qualities I admire the most in others.

And of course my husband & children, who have the ability to laugh at anything and make me happy everyday.

7) Sum up your life in a song lyric

Well, open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you’re free
Look into your heart and you’ll find love, love, love, love

Jason Mraz – I’m Yours.
